First things first...how ARE you??? Truly---how are you doing during this pandemic?
I’ll be honest - mostly, I'm great! Taking care of me in the mom life moments but there are some moments or days (more than I care to admit) I’m just surviving.
Sometimes it can be a moment to moment thing. Sometimes it's during or after a child meltdown of school work when they were still in session (or me not understanding and having to hide in the bedroom and cry out of frustration for a few minutes #keepingitreal). Sometimes it's after I happen to catch some facts of our state or area. Sometimes it's in feeling like I'm going a little stir crazy (we aren't allowed to go hiking or even driving around here anymore...and if you see my posts and stories you know that hiking is my happy place)
We're all dealing with A LOT right now. Uncertainty. Fear. Stress.
I see so many people deep cleaning, organizing, working on projects, saying they're going to catch up on this, that and the other thing…
And truly...I’m SO glad that it's happening!
—IF it feels good for you and not because you feel you HAVE to—
I’m not really doing those things and I've accepted that for me it's ok! --I'm home teaching my kids, working in the cracks of time in a way that feels SO amazing and doing LOTS of sunshine in our yard (when we have it-we just got 5 inches of snow! LOL) and self care!
I keep my house tidy and clean on the regular so a deep clean just doesn’t work for me 😂🤷🏻♀️ And honestly? There’s just no need for me to deep clean and mega purge right now as a military family because that happens literally every time we get orders 💁🏻♀️😂
I organize when I feel the urge at any give time
—that’s good enough for me
I work on projects as it feels aligned
—that’s good enough for me
There is a CRISIS going on right now In addition to the pandemic we're also in a HUGE Anti-Racism Movement.
It’s ok to do those things above
It’s also ok to NOT do a damn thing
What you're doing is enough
How you're responding to everything is enough
It’s ok to not be ok
It’s also ok to be ok
It doesn’t matter what anyone else is doing. Just because you're choosing NOT to do certain things doesn't make you "lazy" or "less than" or friggin ANYTHING like that. It makes you human, having a human experience during a really crazy time. And THAT IS OK!!!! And if you're feeling like you wanna tap into those things you're feeling, grab a journal and a pen and get it out of your head and onto paper. Processing through it on paper has been proven to help!
Here's my encouragement to you:
…fall back into your body, hand over your heart and ask yourself this: What do I need today??
What feels good for you?
What do YOU want? Need?
Have you gotten fresh air?
Done something for YOU?
As long as what YOU are doing feels good enough, know it’s good enough. (even if it IS sitting down with netflix and doing nada!)
