Inner Child Healing
Have you ever been triggered by something and you're like whoa...where on earth did THAT come from? Have you ever looked at childhood memories that are uncomfortable and painful? And then taken steps to heal them and release them?
I'll be totally honest, most of my life up until 2 years ago, I didn't pay much attention to it. That is, until it became too much to ignore.
I don't know about you, but most of my middle school and high school years I was bullied. It's a time in my life I suppressed because well...it was a lot!
I DID take time to look at these memories, forgive who I needed to forgive and heal this part of me.
Until I was recently triggered again and old wounds opened back up...It’s kind of like that moment when you wonder why your child is being so quiet and you gotta creep up on them only to be surprised that they're DEFINITELY doing something they shouldn't be😂Ok, it didn't FEEL like that in the moment but that analogy is kinda hilarious so I'm leaving it
I truly thought I cleared some of my inner child wounds however a situation happened, some shit was said and it triggered old memories. Turns out all the years of bullying, harassing and name calling runs deeper than I even imagined.Sometimes it happens like that. It doesn’t mean what I was doing didn’t work, it just IS. It also means another opportunity to peel back another layer, another layer to heal, something new surfaces and an opportunity to forgive someone else (or the same person/people again)
So what does this look like? There's all kinds of ways you can go about looking at childhood wounds, traumas and heal them. I will say this, if you are someone that feels like you need a licensed therapist, there is NO SHAME in going!
Here's what it looks like for me.
Journaling I know I know. I talk about this all the time but I really feel if we aren't speaking to ourselves we are really doing ourselves a disservice (so...hint hint! Go get a cute journal already and use it! ;) ). For inner child healing, I'll ask myself questions like this: --What is going on? What are the triggers? --How am I feeling? --What memories are these triggers bringing up? What else? Anything else? If there were something else, what would it be? (the point of doing this is allowing ourselves to really dive in and find what's there. If it's too painful to do it all at once, do ONE THING AT A TIME. It's ok! Remember, this is YOUR healing ❤️) --How did each of these situations make me feel? --How am I allowing this to be carried into my life now? --What does little [FIRST NAME GOES HERE] need to hear that I didn't hear then? --WHO DO I NEED TO FORGIVE?
Meditation & time to contemplate solo Meditation doesn't have to be some long buddha like situation where you sit for hours on end meditating. You could literally meditate for 5-15 minutes and still benefit from it (my attention span is short😂10 minutes is typical but up to 15 minutes is a good sweet spot for myself). I recommend searching for inner child healing meditations that are guided on youtube. When I say time to contemplate solo I mean, no electronics, tv off and time to think and reflect. Just like with meditating, it doesn't have to be some insane amount of time. Just whatever feels good. Maybe time in the car on the drive somewhere (music off)? Take a walk in your neighborhood or a hike in the woods (nature is HEALING!). Shower or a bath is a great time to think as well.
Reiki (energy healing) A HUGE reason I became a healer is for this reason: Reiki works from within the body to help us heal. I'm certified in several different styles of healing but the ones I use the most heal on a cellular level as well as helping you raise your consciousness. This means, when Quantum Reiki is done during a session for you, we are diving into the root of the issue and allowing it to surface so you can see it in front of you and work through it. Utilizing Reiki (energy healing) has helped me see what I wasn't seeing and heal from the inside out in a way I wasn't able to figure out before and WOW I'm so grateful. The group energy healing sessions I do bi-weekly are great for this and to dive even deeper, I recommend a 1:1 session so you can have a completely personalized experience with me.
Letter of Forgiveness This is probably one of the hardest things to do. Forgiving someone that may not deserve it because of what they have done or said to you. That said, releasing THEM is releasing for YOU. It's not forgiveness because they may deserve it but because YOU deserve peace. Here's how I recommend the letter: --So just start the letter with who it's to. --Write out what they have done to you and how it's made you feel --Then tell them that you forgive them and WHY you're forgiving them. --You DO NOT have to send this to them. I'll leave that up to you but I really don't recommend it. I recommend burning it (safely please) to release it. WOW that act is so therapeutic in itself.
This isn't always a "one and done" situation. It truly depends on the trauma or wounds that you have and how deep they are. There is no length of time on your healing and if old wounds pop up again, breathe through it and trust it's another layer to peel back. Love yourself through the process.Even though some of these wounds came back up again...I love that I see this. I love that I am AWARE of this. Because I didn’t use to be. I used to suppress it all and not even look at it. …sometimes we just AREN’T ready to look at something. And that’s ok. There are many times that I still sit in the mud if I’m not quite ready to look at something. (and that’s ok too!)It’s all in divine timing for ourselves.
We just have to trust that everything is coming together and also be willing to look at it at SOME point if we’re wanting that release. And trust me, looking at it can be painful AF but I PROMISE you the other side is SO light and freeing. If you're ready to heal as well...check out the details for my next group reiki healing session (click here to learn more)1:1 sessions available as well: https://www.andsherises.com/energy-healing-services
