Drink some coffee and handle it ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Have you ever heard that quote? "Put your hair in a bun, drink some coffee and handle it!"

I used to see it floating around all the time and it would make me laugh because that was my LIFE (well...except the hair in a bun part because I rocked a cute inverted bob for quite a long time ;) ).

But...in the middle of a meltdown, crying because I was so exhausted, overwhelmed and not sure of my direction, my coach/mentor at the time told me to drink some coffee or preworkout and get my work done faster. (And the caffeine would help boost the mood)

โ€‹

Of course...as someone who I trusted enough to be my coach/mentor at the time, I trusted what they guided me to do. So, I did it.

โ€‹

I thought the answers were outside of me.

I thought caffeinating and "getting shit done" was the answer.

โ€‹

I caffeinated not to just get MORE shit done but also for the "caffeine high". Ya know...that euphoria feeling or whatever you wanna call it.

โ€‹

Until enough was ENOUGH.

โ€‹

The exhaustion was too much.

The overwhelm was shooting anxiety in my body through the roof.

โ€‹

And...honestly? I wasn't as happy as what I knew was possible (or that I am now).

โ€‹

I just knew I couldn't keep living that way anymore.

As human BEings...especially as women...we were never meant to go 100 mph every day, all the time.

We were meant to slow down, rest and honor our bodies too.

There's gotta be that balance within ourselves just like the rest of the planet. We aren't that special that we don't deserve rest ;)

You DO deserve to rest!

โ€‹

So I started to learn how to lean into my inner knowing.

I started honoring my body and my cycle.

...if I was tired, I learned to rest without guilt. I won't lie. This one took some time to work throught the guilt and the feelings that I "should" be doing something while I'm resting.

โ€‹

Honestly? I FEEL so much better.

I get just as much done now as I did before when I was going all out all the time except I'm not anxious all the time, I'm not overwhelmed all the time and I actually FEEL rested most of the time! (Of course I'm still a mama and have things to do but I SLOW DOWN when I am feeling tired!)

You do NOT have to just get shit done.

Rest when you feel like resting.

Do the essentials and let the rest go.

โ€‹

Trust me when I say, you will get to it. It WILL get done. It just doesn't HAVE to be right now.

And by honoring you, you will have more energy when you're ready to get to it.

โ€‹

Let me also add, I don't blame this person. They were only teaching what they knew and I realize now I didn't have to follow those directions. By tapping into my intuition and what feels aligned, I know better now! There's always a growth opportunity available for us.
